Biography

Born in 1977 in Valencia, Spain. He studied composition with Ramón Ramos in Valencia and with Gérard Pesson and J. Manuel López López in Paris.

He has been awarded with the XXXVII Reina Sofía Prize for Musical Composition (2020) and First Prize at the XXII Fundación Autor-CNDM Young Composers Award (2011).

His works have been performed by the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Orchestre National de Lorraine, RTVE Orchestra, Orquesta de Valencia, Jove Orquestra de la Generalitat Valenciana, Cor de la Generalitat Valenciana, Ensemble l’Itinéraire, Grup Mixtour, Grup Instrumental de València, Ensemble Espai Sonor, Ensemble d’Arts, B3 Brower Trio, Smash Ensemble, Plural Ensemble, Ensamble Cepromusic, Synergein Project, Neopercusión, Ensemble Orchestrutopica, etc .; in auditoriums such as the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, Palau de la Música in Valencia, Teatro Monumental (Madrid), Roman Theater of Sagunto, Auditorium 400 of the Reina Sofía Art Center, Auditori de Barcelona, ​​Teatros del Canal, Teatro Auditorio Escorial, BBVA Foundation in Bilbao, Auditorio de Zaragoza, Grande Salle of the Metz Arsenal; and at festivals such as Ensems, Festival de Música Contemporánea de Alicante, Festival Acanthes (Metz), Festival Gare du Nord (Basel), the Bernaola Festival, Festival of Sacred Art (Madrid), Mostra Sonora de Sueca, etc.

He has been composer in residence at the Valencian Government Youth Orchestra, for which he received the commission of the opera Noches blancas, premiered at the Palau de les Arts in concert version, and Liebestod (Barcarola for orchestra). Both works are included in a monographic disc recorded by the orchestra under the direction of Manuel Galduf. Besides, a monographic CD has been recently published with the magazine of art, literature and music Sibila, which dedicated the music section to him in one of its issues. Other commissions received include: a concert for piano and orchestra commissioned by the Palau de la Música de Valencia and premiered by the Orquesta de Valencia and Carlos Apellániz under the direction of Jordi Francés; the commission from Radio France of a work recorded by the Orchester Philharmonique de Radio France for the radio program Création mondiale de France Musique; the realization of a work for the Choir of the Generalitat Valenciana in commemoration of its 25th anniversary; the composition of one of the required pieces for the XV José Iturbi International Piano Competition, etc. He has also received commissions from Fundación SGAE-AEOS, Joventuts Musicals de Catalunya, Grup Instrumental de València, Mostra Sonora de Sueca, Neopercusión, Godella Chamber Music Festival “Residencias” and Festival Percute de Catarroja.

He is currently composing an opera with the help of a BBVA Foundation’s Leonardo Grant.
